This article is called, “If There Is No God Then Morality Is Just Your Opinion.” Think about this statement for a moment. If there is no Morality, then there is no right or wrong and no good or evil. This would mean there is no such thing as immorality. There would be no objective truth and truth would become subjective and be whatever you want it to be. Laws governing society would not be needed and anything would be legal. If you can delete God, then you also delete Morality.
Let’s start with a definition of morality. “Principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior.” Merrian Webster Dictionary, “Conformity to ideals of right human conduct.” Now consider the codes of conduct put forward by a society or a group. Add to this a code of conduct that, given specified conditions, would be put forward by all rational people. In addition, add what each individual considers their own personal moral conduct. (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). And lastly, consider our totally Moral God and what He commands.
Because of “FREE WILL” we all have the right to make moral choices. That also is a gift to all humans by God. “Many will say there is no objective moral standard.” Their reasoning then has to be that any moral standard is subjective and depends upon what they think best suits them. Unfortunately, that is totally incorrect. They fail to realize that morality existed long before they were ever born. They believe they are responsible to themselves only. Their moral standard is based on their own preferences. It is sad to see so many holds to totally immoral positions. Their opinions determine what they consider moral or immoral or right and wrong.
I truly believe that too many people have taken up brain cell space and have filled it up with errors. But that is their human right to do so.
THE MORAL MONSTER
Is God a moral monster? Is God evil? As got questions says, “When a person rejects the God of the Bible, he often chooses to label Him as immoral. Non-believers have been known to accuse God of being hypocritical, selfish, arrogant, judgmental, hateful, and even homicidal—a moral monster. Part of the problem with responding to these kinds of claims is that they require extensive answers. It takes only seconds to ask certain questions but quite some time to give a reasonable answer.
The first problem with any “moral monster” accusation against God is that it requires a standard of morality separate from God. In other words, in order to say, “God is morally wrong,” one has to define morality in a way that justifies that claim. But what meaningful standard can exist, other than God, for moral principles?
Apart from God, it’s not possible to have truly objective morality. Opinion is not enough—for the claim “God is a moral monster” to be meaningful, it has to be based on some unchanging standard. Ideas such as “suffering” or “human flourishing” are not objective. There is no rational reason for opinions or subjective ideas to be the source of moral reasoning. Do humans have a better moral system than God? “NO.” Yet they push their new “POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AGENDA” as their new immoral, morality, as their own standard.
YOU ARE NOT MY BOSS
Wow parents across the world will hear those words from many people especially their own children. How do you think God responds when He hears it from those He created? If parents were good than they would give their children everything they want. If God were good, then He would give all humans everything they want and take away all consequences. I think humans have God mixed up with Santa Claus.
Now we are talking about the parenting issue. As questions says, “Good parents don’t let their children insult or disobey them. This is not because the parents are egomaniacs; it’s because they love their children. Even if the kids don’t grasp why, the parents’ rules are for the kids’ good. There are going to be circumstances when a child cannot understand all of the details; he simply needs to know that “Mom and Dad said no.”
There’s nothing unreasonable about God’s expectation of obedience, given that He is a loving Father who wants the best for His children and who knows far more than they do. God cannot be fairly labeled a “moral monster” simply because He has established rules that some particular person does not like, does not understand, or refuses to obey.” Tell God He is not your boss or creator, and see what happens, you will not like it.
DID GOD CREATE EVIL
The answer to that question is absolutely not. Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” Just as darkness is the absence of light, Evil is the absence of Good. Most of human suffering comes from human sin, either our own or someone else’s. Then again there is “FREE WILL” and that is your freedom and ability to choose. There are many things that God does NOT ordain but He does allow you to choose. SIN IS YOUR CHOICE. That does not mean He takes away the consequences of sin.
God established the plan to end all suffering and evil, and He will. God will never accept sin because it is totally contrary to who He is. But He will forgive it and take away the eternal consequences of sin. It is not in God’s nature to allow or accept sin. All evil is against God’s will. This life is not all there is to our existence. Death just moves your existence to your final destination and that destination will be your choice. Your final destination is determined by the one you choose to serve. And, YES, that is Jesus and heaven or Satan and hell.
God is not the “MORAL MONSTER” humans make Him out to be. Here is the real problem. Humans want to make God in their own image. They want to create their own immoral god. They fail to see and understand that they already have one and his name is Satan.
CONCLUSION
Many humans do not understand who God truly is or what God is like. Ask the normal person what is God like and most will say, “Well, God is love.” And that is all they know or want to know. Yet they do not understand God’s love in the first place. They do not understand what it really took for God to display His love for us and too us. If God exists (and He does) He created life, then He has the authority to decide what happens to that life. He can set the rules, and He can determine the punishments for breaking those rules.
If the entire universe is His creation, then “morality,” including life and death, is by definition under His control.” Humans have this great desire to be their own authority. Acts 17:28 “For in “HIM” (GOD) we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”
Let me tell you about God’s love on display. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” II Corinthians 5:21 “For he (GOD) hath made him (JESUS) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” This dear Reader is God’s love on display in the sacrifice of His own son to pay for our sins and give forgiveness and Salvation to us through Jesus.
Romans 3:23 shows us where we all fail. “Forall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Sin is a killer; this is why we all die.? As I stated above sin separate us from and Holy God. Jesus paid for our sins and bought and brought us back into relationship and fellowship with God. This is our salvation and restoration back to God. You can have that right now.
Simply put, tell me there is no morality or immorality. Tell me there is no right or wrong. Tell me where sin comes from. Tell me where authority comes from. You understand the head of the family concept yet deny God as the head of His Family. And tell me where all of this come from. Being Politically Correct will kill you and send you to hell, because it is based on your own personal opinion, not on the one and true God of heaven and earth.
Will you turn from yourself and turn to God for forgiveness and Salvation? Will you put your faith and trust in Jesus for Eternal Salvation? Will you bow your heart and call upon God. I Corinthians 10:13 says, “For who so ever shall call (ASK) upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I promise you on the authority of God’s word, that he will save you, forgive you and make you, His child. HE IS THE SUPREME MORAL AUTHORITY WHO POSSESSES ALL POWER.
If you have prayed and received God’s forgiveness for sin, please let me know in the comment section at the bottom so I can rejoice with you. Also, your thoughts, opinions and comments are welcome so leave them also in the comment section at the bottom. This concludes “If there is no God then morality is just your opinion.” Now please enjoy this beautiful song. RAY
