This article is called “The Christian and effects of sin.” I want to start this article with what I think may be the most important statement about the Christian person and sin, so here it is. “The closer you get to Jesus Christ, the more sinful you are going to feel. Do you realize that?” Everyone who has ever seen a true reflection of God, is deeply convicted of their own sins, and that is a biblical fact. Isaiah 6:5 “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”
BEFORE AND AFTER
Before I became a Christian, before I was saved and born again by the blood of Jesus Christ, I did NOT care what I did. I did NOT care about any wrong doings, actions or sins. I thought I was enjoying life and having fun. After all, it is my life. I knew there was really something missing in my life and I tried to fill that “EMPTY VOID” with material things and enjoyments. That did not work, and the empty void still remained. People truly do not understand that the empty void was created for God’s place in your life. Nothing else but God will fill that space and fulfill your life. Only He can give your life true meaning.
Peter said, standing in Jesus’ presence, “Lord, depart from me, I am a sinful man.” The fact that you are aware of your own sin, and feel guilty about it, is a sign of Spiritual life in you.” But we live in a world that has been “Desensitized” and people are no longer shocked or bothered by lawlessness and sin. People have become accustomed to accepting evil and wickedness.
Let me give you a prime example. According to internet data, There are, at this very moment, 4 million pornographic websites. Think about that for a moment. All different kinds and forms of pornography. So how much sin and addiction are there from it. And this is just one addiction. This is tracked daily by over 80 million people. Tracking data shows that more people are tuned into those websites than the combined number of people tuned into Netflix, Twitter and Amazon, all combined together.
Let that sink into your brain. Now add all of the ungodly television programming, movies and the rest of the internet. In addition, now add all the dirty movie sites and the Social Media sites, and those who perform on them. Satan and sin never stops, or sleeps. In this world and today’s society, “SIN” is a dirty word and no longer acceptable. Political correctness and wokeism, deem that God’s words are so offensive. And theword “SIN” must be banished forever. After all, immorality has been given laws and special rights and privileges.
But morality and doing what is right, is now wrong. Judges 21:25 “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Simply put, humans always try to justify their own sins. They still want to classify what they call, BIG SIN AND LITTLE SIN. I have actually heard people say, “Well, a little sin will not hurt you.” REALLY? Hell of full of people that believed that. God will never accept sin, but He will forgive sin if you come to Him and ask.
THE EFFECTS OF SIN AND CONSEQUENCES
We live in a world today where it is very hard for someone, to find a Christian. Now someone is thinking, “If you want find a Christian then go to a church.” There is some truth to that statement but let me clarify what I am talking about. “PEOPLE TALK IT BUT DO NOT WALK IT.” You can say, I am a Christian, but does the way you live your life show it? Or do you walk and talk exactly like those who do not claim to be Christian? How well do you fit in, with this ungodly world?
To many Christians have adopted worldly standards and walked away from Gods’ standards. “JUST GO WITH THE FLOW.” I just want to get along with everyone and I do not want to offend or hurt anyone’s feelings. What does that really mean? “I WANT EVERYONE TO LIKE ME.”
The world looks at Christians and expects them to be super Spiritual and perfect. Christians are not and will never be here in a “FLESH BODY.” If you have truly been saved than you have a never-ending battle trying to tame your own sinful human nature and flesh. Jesus told Nicodemus, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6.
WHAT YOU FEED LEADS
Everyone loves to eat and has their favorite foods. And boy, do we feed the flesh. I see many people over-eat, but I have never seen anyone over-eat of the Spirit. Galatians 5:17 KJV “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” You do choose which one will lead you, the flesh or the spirit. Satan always works on the flesh while God works on the Spirit.
Before Jesus went to the cross to die He said this: John 16:4-10 “But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. 5But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? 6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. 7Nevertheless I tell you the truth.
It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more.” I find it ironic how the Holy Spirit lives in Christians, yet they still do not understand what His job and work is in their lives. He leads, He guides,
He directs our lives, and he Convicts us of sin that we still commit. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Being a Christian does not mean we are sinless. We still live in a depraved flesh body. And Satan always works on the flesh.
The Holy Spirit is the one who places us in the body of Christ at the moment we are saved and converted. He places the new Spiritual birth within us and comes to live in us, He makes us a new creature in Christ, He takes our dead spirit and makes it alive. This is called the new spiritual birth. We are like a new-born Spiritual baby in Christ. I have asked this question before, and I will ask it again here. If parents have a new-born baby and take the baby home, would they not know there was a new-born baby in their house? I think they would know especially at feeding time.
I believe it is basically the same with a Spiritual Birth. Our Spiritual Birth is INSIDE of us, it is not in the flesh. This is the “NEW LIFE?” How can the very Holy Spirit of God live in you, and you not know it, or show it? I am asking WHERE IS THE CHANGE in the person’s life? II Corinthians 5:17 “17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” I do understand there is a growth process, just like a physical birth. I believe something will change in the person’s life. How could it not?
Let me share something with you. As I stated above, before I was saved and born again, SIN did not bother me. Now that I am saved, I hate sin. Do you know what sins I hate the most? The sins I hate the most are: THE SINS I COMMIT! God changed “MY WANT TO.” Will you let Him change YOUR want too? If you come to Him, He will change your whole life for the better, forgive all SINS and give you an eternal home in heaven with Him. Are you really losing and letting Satan cheat you out of the very best life, God has to offer? Satan has already been judged and knows his fate. Will you let him drag you down to hell with him? “ITS YOUR CHOICE.” And it is an ETERNAL CHOICE.
I ask one favor of you. The next time you look in the mirror look very closely. Then, tell me the person you see in the mirror is PERFECT AND NEVER DONE ANYTHING WRONG OR SINNED. Romans 3:23 KJV “For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Sin is a killer, that is why we all die, Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Do you not realize how Jesus came to earth and was born to die on a cross, and be PUNISHED for everyone’s sins? He was tortured, crucified, bled and die to pay for you and my sins, he had no sin of his own, he became our substitute. Jesus satisfied Gods’ Wrath and Judgement that would be poured out on you and me. If you are a Christian, then you should already know this. If you are not a Christian and have never been forgiven, you really need to know this. Simply put, 1.We are the sinners, 2. Jesus is the Savior, 3. Jesus came to SAVE sinners. Saved from what? (SIN, SELF AND SATAN). Salvation and forgiveness from God is yours for the asking. It is your choice.
Romans 10:13 KJV says, “For whosoever shall (ASK) call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Will you bow your heart and ask God to save you and forgive you? If you do he will cleanse you and save you for all time and eternity, he will make you a new person inside. Christians are not perfect people they just have a perfect Savior. Christians are not perfect people they are just FORGIVEN.
